Onboarding Process
Your PennKey
You will receive an email from pennkey@isc.upenn.edu. This email will provide:- Instructions on creating your PennKey username and password,
OR - information about your existing PennKey username and password.
Note: It can take up to 24 hours after establishing or resetting your PennKey username and password to have it available to use with Workday.

Workday Onboarding Tasks
You will receive an email from Workday@Penn which will prompt you to complete your Workday inbox onboarding tasks.
- Using your PennKey username and password, log into Workday
- Complete the Workday inbox onboarding tasks listed below. These tasks should be completed prior to your first day of work:
- Complete Section 1 Form I-9 work authorization*
- Demographic and Contact Data
- Disability Self-Identification
- Home Contact Change
- Payment Election Enrollment Event
- Personal Information Change
- Preferred Name Change
- Review Document - Participation Agreement
- Review Document - Payroll Payment Acknowledgement
- Veteran Status Identification
*Complete Section 2 of Form 1-9 in person at Onboard@Penn
Once the Workday Inbox onboarding tasks are complete, you need to complete Section 2 of the Form I-9 Work Authorization in person at Onboard@Penn, located at 3601 Walnut Street-2nd floor of the Penn Bookstore, no later than 3 days after your hire date. Click here to make an appointment.
To complete Section 2 of Form I-9, you will need to present ORIGINAL AND UNEXPIRED identity and employment authorization documents. The list can be found on the USCIS Form I-9 Acceptable Documents page.

SCANS, COPIES, OR ELECTRONIC VERSIONS OF THESE DOCUMENTS.
Complete W-4 and Additional Workday Tasks
Once Section Two of your I-9 Work Authorization is complete at Onboard@Penn, please log back into Workday to complete the additional Workday inbox onboarding tasks, e.g. your W-4.
You will be able to receive your PennCard once after your first day of employment and once the onboarding task above are complete.
Employees Working Outside Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware
Employees working outside of PA, NJ, and DE may complete Form I-9 Part 2 using the CUPA Consortium for Reciprocal I-9.Use these remote I-9 processing instructions for the hiring department, worker, and authorized agent. To identify an authorized agent near you, please contact the Penn Employee Solution Center.
